Mandatory Credit: Matthew Hinton-Imagn Images Versatile New Orleans tight end Taysom Hill is done for the season due to a knee injury sustained during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Rams, the Saints confirmed Monday.
NFL Network reported Hill has a torn left ACL and "additional damage" before Saints interim coach Darren Rizzi confirmed the season-ending verdict Monday afternoon.
Hill was carted off the field with 4:36 remaining in the fourth quarter after injuring his knee while picking up a first down with a 2-yard run off a direct snap on fourth-and-1. He was tackled by Rams cornerback Cobie Durant.
"It's the worst," Saints quarterback Derek Carr said after the game. "Just as a brother, as a friend. It's bigger than football at that moment."
Hill, 34, has 39 carries for 278 yards and six touchdowns in eight starts this season, his eighth with the Saints. The fan favorite also has 23 catches for 187 yards and has completed 2 of 4 passes for 21 yards with an interception.
In 105 career games (49 starts), Hill has accumulated 2,437 rushing yards and 943 receiving yards with 44 TDs from scrimmage. He is also 7-2 as a starting quarterback, completing 63.9 percent of his passes for 2,369 yards with 11 scores and nine picks.
Hill joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of BYU in 2017. He signed a four-year, $40 million extension in November 2021 and carries a cap hit of $9.2 million this season and $18 million in 2025.
Rizzi also told reporters that offensive lineman Nick Saldiveri's knee injury "may or may not be" season-ending. Saldiveri started six of the past eight games for the Saints, the first six starts of his two-year NFL career.
